I am just a normal woman ‘of a certain age’ who takes her skincare products seriously. I lead a busy life and do not like shopping much, so I am definitely not the traditional beauty blogger. I have little money to waste or spend on indulgences. At the same time I like to look my best and am happy to pay for a product that works. I like to look my best and am willing to spoil myself from time to time with some luxurious products. But it is hard to justify buying a second bottle of perfume if you also have so much you need to buy for the kids and home.
I think consumers are sold a lot of inaccurate claims. I am happy to pay big bucks for a marvellous product. I am not happy to spend my money on snake oil. I would love to be able to accurately distinguish between the two. I think the blog was born out of this attempt.
I am not particular about green or organic products. Although I love this planet and hope it will be around for a very long time, I do not think the 3 ml of stuff I put on my face every evening will make any difference in the long run. I will recycle, drive less, switch off lights etc. if I want to save the planet, not change my beauty regimen.
I am happy to pay for a good product, but if I can get the same results with a cheaper product I will go for it. Price therefore does play a large role in my evaluation of products.
I like to write and share what I have written. I hope you will like to read this. Please comment on any of my reviews if you have used the product.
About me:
I am almost (so almost) 40 years old. I am the mother of two delightful young boys and could never understand why people in dating profiles would call their children dependents. They are delightful, messy, bundles of joy, not dependents. And no, I am not dating, I am happily married.
I have a wonderful job. I do numbers. It would bore most people to death, but that is great, it means they leave me alone to do my numbers things. As a teenager I thought I would write a book, now I am not so sure any more. Do I have anything worthwhile to say?
I live at the coast, but cannot see the sea either from my home or most of the places I go every day. But it is a 15 min drive away if I needed to get there. I love the ocean. I used to visit it once a year when we lived far away and always said tearful goodbyes on the last day of my vacation. I do not know why it took me so long to figure out that I needed to move closer to the ocean.
So I guess this blog is my attempt to write more. Not the book I thought I would write, but at least something. I write about girly things, because I live in a house full of very manly, messy men.
